Alex Smith began work in the tile trade in 2005. Since then he has continued to expand his skills and knowledge of tile installation, staying up to date on the latest trends and techniques. In 2007 he established Installations by Alex LLC to specialize in luxury residential projects. In 2017 he became one of an elite group of nationally Certified Tile Installers (CTI#1500). An education in the performing arts has given Alex a unique understanding of aesthetics, flow, form and functional efficiency that serves him well as an artisan. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree and remains involved in the civic arts community as the board chair of Dance Project Inc. Working in the mountains of North Carolina, with the top builders, designers and architects, Alex strives to bring lasting works of art into his client’s homes.
